ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

Funds For Child Poverty was co-founded in 2023 by Vivian Wan and Cindy Wan, two sisters from Delaware who believe that every child deserves access to education, regardless of where they are born.

As a high school student at Tower Hill School, Vivian has always been drawn to understanding how economic systems shape people’s lives. Through her involvement in community service — from volunteering at the Nanticoke Indian PowWow to conducting independent research on cultural economics at Texas A&M — she saw firsthand how small interventions can create meaningful change in underserved communities.

In the summer of 2023, after learning about the educational barriers facing children in developing countries, Vivian and Cindy decided to act. They built this website, launched social media campaigns, and organized fundraising efforts in their school and community. What started as a summer project has grown into an ongoing commitment — raising over $32,000 to support disadvantaged children, beginning with education centers in rural Nepal.

OUR MISSION

We believe that access to education is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Funds For Child Poverty works to give disadvantaged children around the world the resources they need to learn, grow, and build a better future. Our current projects focus on rural Nepal, with plans to expand to other underserved communities globally.

Our funds go directly to:

  • School supplies and learning materials — books, notebooks, writing tools, and educational resources
  • Nutrition programs — ensuring children receive meals so they can focus on learning instead of hunger
  • Learning infrastructure — supporting safe, functional classroom environments in underserved communities
  • Clothing and essentials — uniforms and basic items so children can attend school with dignity

OUR IMPACT

  • $32,000+ raised since 2023
  • Funds directed to children’s education centers and schools in rural Nepal
  • Active social media outreach across multiple platforms
  • Community fundraising events and school partnerships in Delaware
  • Growing network of supporters committed to expanding our reach worldwide
